Matti J. Huhtamäki

Attorney, LL.M. (Cornell), Master of Laws.

Matti heads our antitrust and corporate advisory practices. Matti also advises clients in dispute resolution, contract and company law as well as M&A associated matters. Due to his background in sports Matti has also assisted sporting organizations, sports clubs and athletes/players in sports law related cases.

In the field of competition law, Matti has extensive experience in advising multinational companies and private equity funds on merger control related issues in connection with multijurisdictional transactions and submitting merger filings to national and EU competition authorities. Furthermore, Matti regularly advises companies on the competition law effects related to distribution, supply, production and cooperation agreements. Matti has represented clients in numerous cartel and abuse of dominance related investigations.

In relation to corporate advisory, Matti has drafted and negotiated contracts in various sectors of trade and assisted companies in solving distribution and supply chain related issues.

Matti is also experienced in drafting shareholder agreements and providing clients with shareholder rights and other company law related advice.

With regard to dispute resolution, Matti’s practice includes representing companies and private individuals in litigation and arbitration proceedings with a particular focus on M&A and competition law related damages claims and contractual disputes.

Matti has worked for leading Finnish law firms and two international law firms in both Helsinki and Brussels. Matti has published and co-authored numerous articles on issues related to competition law. In addition, Matti’s experience includes working as a researcher during and after the completion of his law degrees at the University of Lapland and Cornell Law School. Matti is a member of the Finnish Bar Association.

Matti has been ranked by Who’s Who Legal as a Future Leader in Competition Law.

Matti speaks and serves clients in Finnish, Swedish, and English fluently.
