Doctor of Laws (PhD. Law, in spe) Heikki A. Huhtamäki is the co-founder and younger brother of Huhtamäki Brothers Attorneys.
He heads our dispute resolution and bankruptcy related practices. Heikki also advises clients on corporate crime and competition law related cases.
Heikki is an experienced litigator and arbitrator. He has arbitrated disputes under Nordic Institutional (FAI, SCC) and ad hoc rules. Heikki has also successfully litigated before Finnish state courts in cases relating to termination of lease agreements, construction disputes, interpretation of shareholders’ agreements, interpretation and termination of software agreements, product liability, termination of employment contracts, and claw back (i.e. recovery) demands of bankruptcy estates against former board members and directors of Finnish companies. In addition, he has also advised clients as creditors in Finnish bankruptcy and restructuring proceedings and in mediation procedures.
On the academic side, Heikki is well-merited. Heikki’s doctoral dissertation focused on monetary injunctions in Finland and in the EU (“Rahavarojen turvaamistoimet Suomessa ja Euroopan unionissa”, 2019). In addition, Heikki is the author of the books Valid Non-Compete Contract (i.e. “Pätevä kilpailukieltosopimus”, 2010) and Non-Compete and Non-Disclosure Obligations in Agreements (i.e. “Kilpailukielto ja salassapito sopimussuhteissa”, 2014). He has also published several articles in various law journals.
Before working at law firms, Heikki acted as a law clerk and trained on the bench at the District Court of Southern Ostrobothnia in 2011. Heikki holds a master’s degree in economics and a post-graduate degrees in law (LL. Lic. and LL.D.). He is a member of the Finnish Bar Association and a member of its educational committee. In December 2016, Heikki was a visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law.
